About the event

On June 2-4, 2025, a satellite event of the Congress of Young Scientists was held in Anapa

More than 100 expert participants from 30 cities participated in the satellite event – employees of leading universities, research centers of the Russian Academy of Sciences, representatives of the Kuban Science Foundation, authors of technological solutions in the field of liquidating the consequences of oil spills, volunteers

A total of 120 projects from 27 regions of Russia were discussed, analyzed, and tested in practice

Satellite events of the Congress of Young Scientists are held as part of the Decade of Science and Technology, declaredDecree of the President of the Russian Federation dated April 25, 2022 No. 231 "On Declaring the Decade of Science and Technology in the Russian Federation".

The goal of the satellite event is to involve the Russian scientific community in solving a wide range of practical tasks in the region

The program

The final day of the satellite event of the V Congress of Young Scientists concluded with a plenary session, where participants presented their projects and proposals that will help deal with the fuel oil spill in the Black Sea

Group "MORE"

Participants presented a set of solutions for the water area. They analyzed all the difficulties that arose in practice: over the time since the accident, the pollution has settled and is deeper, the fuel mixture has become heavier, overgrown with biota, and clogs the pumps, and storms interfere with cleaning. They analyzed the methods already used and proposed a comprehensive program including methods for detecting lenses at the bottom and eliminating contamination using chemical, biological, and mechanized methods. The proposed approach takes into account working with fuel oil at the bottom, along the shore, and on the water surface

Group "SUSHA"

Representatives of the group to eliminate the consequences of the fuel oil spill proposed to develop a program that would combine all methods of soil cleaning – mechanical, washing and sorption, fine cleaning, and bioremediation – into three technological chains under the leadership of general contractors. These are Russian companies specializing in this field, in cooperation with scientific institutes, universities, and high-tech companies. The formed technological chains and their elements were reviewed and approved by the experts participating in the event during the group's work

Group "MONITORING"

Participants proposed solutions for monitoring the consequences of fuel oil spills on marine and terrestrial ecosystems. Among them are remote monitoring, including using drones, as well as a satellite monitoring method using radar. For the variable marine environment, online monitoring methods using bottom sensors are needed. Also, according to experts, it is necessary to use geodetic techniques to assess vulnerable areas and chemical soil studies, the list of which should be expanded

Group "ECOLOGY"

Participants of the group presented the prospects for the development of environmental education. Vice-Rector for Digital Transformation of Southwestern State University Alexei Pykhtin explained that environmental education should cover students starting from school age. Environmental education can be integrated into the education system as additional courses, as well as in the form of advanced training in production. Several Russian universities have already shown interest in the proposed tracks, among them the Kuban State Agrarian University. In addition, it is proposed to create a volunteer training system, develop techno-eco-volunteering, and create eco-classes similar to agro-classes
