About the event

On October 14–16, 2025, the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug will host a satellite event of the Congress of Young Scientists for the fourth time.

For the third year in a row, the priority topic remains permafrost, its changes, and adaptation to them.

Over 100 representatives of government bodies, science, and business will participate in the satellite event.

Satellite events of the Congress of Young Scientists are being held in the regions of Russia as part of the plan for the Decade of Science and Technology in the Russian Federation, announced by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation on April 25, 2022, to strengthen the role of science and technology in solving the most important tasks of society and country development.

The program

Experts will be offered regional tasks for work in the following blocks: "frostwater", "construction", "operation", "ecology", "reclamation". During the three working days of the satellite event, participants will have to develop draft solutions on five priority regional themes declared by the executive authorities of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug:

  1. Technologies of solid municipal waste landfill reclamation in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
  2. Development of reclamation technology using yagel for the restoration of disturbed lands of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
  3. Technological solutions for roads in the natural and climatic conditions of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
  4. Development of a methodology for modeling and forecasting permafrost and climate risks for the territory of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
  5. Creation of a unified greenhouse gas monitoring network in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug for monitoring processes on the Arctic shelf.

The program also includes field trips with visits to infrastructure facilities.

The outcome of the satellite event will be the defense of project solutions to the region's tasks on priority topics with the participation of members of the district government, representatives of executive bodies, and local self-government bodies.

To participants

The Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug provides financial support (flight expenses, accommodation with breakfast included) for organizing the participation of experts from scientific organizations and higher education institutions who cannot be seconded at the expense of the sending party. Representatives of commercial organizations and industry pay for flight, accommodation, and meal expenses independently. Free for all participants are transfers as part of the companion event and the cultural and leisure program.

The opportunity to participate in the event is by invitation from the organizers, addressed to the heads of scientific organizations and higher education institutions, representatives of commercial organizations and industry.

Registration of participants will begin at the event venue (the exact time will be indicated in the program). Each participant will be issued a personalized badge. Throughout their stay at the event venue, participants must have a badge and an identity document with them.
